Esther’s Prayer?

September 23, 2010 Donna New

I’ve been wondering what Esther’s prayers were as she fasted those three days. She probably prayed for her safety, for Mordecai’s safety and for the Jews to be under the Lord’s right hand of strength. She probably prayed for her husband to receive her and for courage to walk into the throne room. But one thing she may or may not have prayed was, “Lord, confuse the enemy.”

It wasn’t this way in “One Night with the King” but Haman was so thrilled to be invited to a banquet with the Queen. Things were going so “well” for him. He had just been appointed over the high officials in the kingdom. He was blinded by God as to his soon demise. By the next night he had walked Mordecai through the streets praising Mordecai and Haman’s wife knew something was up in the spiritual realm. But he was quickly ushered to the banquet.

When we pray, God takes care of all the details. He has the sweetest listening Ear, and the most loving, warm Heart to pray to, especially when we are vulnerable with Him. The Bible doesn’t say what Esther prayed but by the end of the book she had all she could ever want and more. That doesn’t always happen here on earth. We don’t all live happily ever after. But until the Day we do we have that sweet Ear and that loving Heart by our side, in our heart closer than a tear on our cheek or “a song on our lips.”
