Psalm 89:9 You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves arise, You still them.

Way back in Psalms David knew the raging of the sea could be quelled by his God. So when Jesus stilled the raging sea, some of the minds of the disciples went back to this Scripture in Psalms. Their Master and Teacher was God Himself.

There was a lady of the evening who’s mind was never at peace. There was a war raging in her at all times. A man named Hosea came to rescue her from her life and marry her. She went with him and the raging quieted some. But the pull to her former life was too great and she left her husband only to find that raging in her mind increasing. She longed for Hosea but just couldn’t leave the life that had its grip on her. Hosea loved her and went back for her a second time. He told her “I desire that you would truly love me. I long for you to know how much I love you. Please come home!” She cried and said, “Hosea, your face shines like the dawn to me. When I’m near you peace fills my heart. Please take me home.” And so he did. They had several children together. And this lady of the evening became a wife and mother.

This is an abbreviated story of the book of Hosea in the Bible. It’s interesting to read if you get a chance. The Lord loves us like that. We stray and He comes after us. The war rages inside us and then we return to Him and He says peace be still. And the principle this story teaches is that we may be able to rescue others with much prayer and great love, if we choose to be a warrior for someone.
