The Arrow

But a man drew his bow without taking special aim and struck the king of Israel… 2 Chronicles 18:33

The king of Israel, Ahab, was a wicked man. He chose prophets around him that would tell him what he wanted to hear and send away the only one who would tell him the truth. He did that very thing before this battle and this is what it cost him…his life.

The man who shot the arrow just let it go into the group of soldiers on the enemy side. Little did he know God would use his arrow to take out an evil king.

There was a group of singles that would pray every week for each others’ prayer requests. We were a small group of 5 or 7 or so but big things happened.  We prayed for a very sick little preemie girl and she got better and is a beautiful 17 year old today. We prayed for a religious organization to have a man of God in charge and a man of God came in charge. There was contention about a man who was not a man of God and he quietly bowed out. We prayed for the marriage of a friend.

I tell you this to say, pray. Shoot that arrow. You may not know how or what to say but I can give you some words to get you started: 2 Chronicles 20:12 “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” Just tell Him that. These words are helping me in a situation I have now. He’ll hold our hands and lead us where we need to be or take care of  the situation. Or possibly take care of us through a tough situation. But He listens, He hears, He moves when we pray. And He loves us.

I have never read that verse. Very encouraging to me today concerning a situation, or I might say, a trying time in my life. Thank you for sharing.

2 Chron 20:12 was used in a talk by Lysa TerKeurst Thursday night. It really ministered to me.
