“For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.”(Luke 1:37 Amp) This is what the angel told Mary when she had trouble believing that God was going to give her a Baby.

When we need something, even when we want something, we can believe God will do it. Not because we have special powers nor because we are holy but because “no word from God shall be without power…” It’s difficult sometimes because He retains the right to say “No.” But our job is to ask and believe. His job is to answer. Mary’s answer to Him was “…I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me according to what you have said.” (Luke 1:38) She was humble and willing to receive the impossible.

In Lord of the Rings, the last part of the third movie, Frodo has climbed the mountain and is about to make it to the lava in the mountain that will kill the hunger for power the ring brings. The king in the land at the bottom of the mountain says that their troops don’t have a chance against the enemy, the Eye, and its troops. There is much discussion about whether or not to fight. To fight would be certain death but it’s Frodo’s only chance, for the forces of the Eye to be distracted. So they attempt the impossible. In their hearts they sacrifice themselves to save Frodo and kill the power of the ring. Well as they’re fighting reinforcements come and they win against the evil Eye. At the same time the ring goes into the lava and is destroyed.

So when things look impossible we have to do what is right and trust the Lord for the answer. He loves us and longs to answer our prayer. We just need to be like Mary “…let it be done to me according to what you have said…”
