A Blanket for the Holidays

December 10, 2010 Donna New

In the winter “Snuggies” are selling and we all have our warm blankets to wrap up in when it gets cold. I live in Florida where only some days are cold. Some need those blankets every day of winter.

To me, winter can be a little depressing too. They say it might be because days are short and light is less. Whatever the reason there’s joy in giving on Christmas but there’s a dampening or darkening of the spirit in a person during the holidays.

I was reading Acts1:5 and found that for our depression during the winter there’s a “blanket” we can wrap up in. “For John baptized with water, but not many days from now you shall be baptized with (placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit. We kind of wear the Holy Spirit. We are placed in Him. We’re in a sense wrapped around in Him.

That’s comforting to me. I can feel wrapped up in Him and His joy when I’m a little dark inside. We have His counseling around us when we need it. What security and warmth to be wrapped up in a “Snuggie” of the Holy Spirit.
