Rest or Run

March 31, 2011 Donna New

In Psalm 139:1-13 God comes near to David. He understands his thoughts He has hemmed David in behind and before. There’s no where David can go to get away not the wings of the dawn, or a trip to heaven God is still near David to hold him.

Sometimes I want God near. Mainly as Someone to talk to and to feel His strong, gentle arm near. He’s my best friend and I like Him close.

To take the wings of the dawn to get away from God is either being playful or contains some fear of God. Or to go to heaven to run must mean some guilt there maybe. My nephew just parachuted and it seemed like a beautiful thing to do, to experience the earth from the sky. But to take the wings if the dawn to run from God isn’t pretty, it’s wrong and I’d much rather be near.

We all run from time to time though. It’s natural and human. But right now I need Him near. I need Him to hem me in and know my thoughts. He’s a pretty beautiful God to be willing to be so near and to even chase his loved ones down when we run.
