For it was the good pleasure of the Father that in him should all the fulness dwell; and through him to reconcile all things unto himself, having made peace through the blood of his cross; through him, I say, whether things upon the earth, or things in the heavens. Colossians 1:19, 20

fulness –  Every quality of God exists and existed in Him. Every quality needed to bring love and peace and forgiveness between us and God.

We talked about in a previous blog about how Jesus was God’s image, a visual to show us God’s kindness and forgiveness. Now in this verse He has a slightly different purpose. His fulness is to reconcile us to Him. He had to be filled with God for this. No half way would work here. So He poured out His fulness in the blood on the cross.

The sacrifice bought reconciliation between God and our hearts. All His fulness emptied out was as if God was reaching out and taking our hand to begin a Father child relationship with us. He had always longed for conversation and so He purchased it. I long for conversation too…Someone who will feel what I feel and love me just the same. Someone who will ease my troubles. Someone Who can give forgiveness.  He did it so He could become that Someone to me.
