Striving in Prayer

April 25, 2011 Donna New

Epaphras…saluteth you, always striving for you in his prayers, that ye may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God.

It seems to me that when you strive for someone in prayer that you would become rather fond of them, saluting them with a special greeting from your heart, wanting to find out how they’re doing.

To strive for something is to really give your best for it. To strive in prayer is to feel what they feel and pray what is godly for it. Godly doesn’t mean stuffy and following rules. But godly is warmhearted and loving. So striving in prayer is giving your all to help someone be loving.

This verse says that you may be perfect. Perfect really means mature, grown up, adult-like. So we rewrite the definition of striving in prayer one more time…feeling what someone else feels, praying with your all for them to have the loving warmhearted response so that they will mature and be confident in the Lord.
